Av de hundratals gratisprogram jag provat och tusentals webbplatser jag besökt ger jag dessa minst(!) 5 poäng på en 5-gradig skala.*
* Detta är historien om varför jag ger länkarna minst 5 poäng på en 5-gradig skala (d.v.s. istället för att vara konventionell och använda en 5-gradig skala utan manöverutrymme): Att sätta betyg på företeelser av olika slag är ett av mina stora intressen, att se på film ett annat. När Skövde Filmfestival startade för ett antal år sedan började jag sätta betyg på varje film jag sett. Till en början använde jag den mer vedertagna 5-gradiga skalan, men ibland hände det att en film i mitt tycke var så bra att den förtjänade mer än 5 poäng. Alltså gav jag filmen ifråga 6 poäng. Det hände visserligen väldigt sällan, men det hände dock. Någon enstaka gång gav jag till och med 7 poäng till en film. Så föddes den 5-gradiga skalan med åtminstone 7 steg. (Jag har ännu inte satt mer än 7 poäng i något sammanhang. Att sätta 8 eller 9 eller till och med 10 poäng skulle dock inte vara omöjligt, men vad som skulle kunna motivera en så hög poäng kan jag inte ens föreställa mig.)
Tecknen jag använder för att ange hur många poäng jag ger en webbplats förtjänar också att kommenteras. Det blå tecknet är det kinesiska tecknet för människa. Det röda tecknet är ett pentagram (en femuddig stjärna): en västerländsk symbol för en människa. Dessa symboler återfinns också i bilderna längst upp till vänster och längst upp till höger på sidan. Jag vill slutligen nämna att pentagrammet första gången användes i Haikudikter 2004 & 2008. Det består av blad från en nyponbuske där de flesta blommor redan blivit kart, som plockades i Karstorp i Skövde sommaren 2005, fotograferades och manipulerades på olika sätt i datorn.

When I was looking around for text editors with syntax highlighting, I have come across the Scintilla source code editing component. I was very much impressed by this project, so I decided to create my own Scintilla-based text editor.
The result is Notepad2, a fast and light-weight Notepad-like text editor with syntax highlighting. This program can be run out of the box without installation, and does not touch your system's registry. [28/7 2008]
Kommentar: Notepad2 är ett mycket bra alternativ till Notepad alias Anteckningar. De senaste månaderna har jag ibland inte kunnat använda programmet jag normalt använder när jag skriver kod (Dreamweaver). Istället har jag använt Notepad2 och upptäckt att programmet är mycket bättre än jag trodde, bl.a. vad gäller hastighet. T.ex. behövde jag vid ett tillfälle göra en array med ungefär 10.000 värden. Jag behövde med andra ord byta ut ungefär 10.000 blanksteg mot ungefär 10.000 ' , '. Jag testade denna operation med fyra olika program och fick följande resultat:
- Dreamweaver 8: 14 minuter
- Notepad alias Anteckningar: 9 minuter
- Notepad2: 2 sekunder(!)
- Automagisk kodgenerator:* 2 sekunder(!)

När jag använt kod jag inte är så säker på kontrollerar jag den alltid och ger mig inte förrän den är 100 % korrekt (d.v.s. enligt w3.orgs validering, som väl förmodligen bara är felfri till 99 eller möjligen 98 %). Detsamma gör jag när jag skrivit ett längre stycke kod jag är säker på är helt korrekt. Ibland är den nämligen ändå inte det!

Kommentar: Defraggler är mycket enkel att använda. Man klickar på Analyse och får efter några sekunder fram en lista med alla fragmenterade filer. Man väljer vilka filer man vill defragmentera, t.ex. de mest fragmenterade eller alla. Man klickar på Defrag Checked och väntar på att defragmenteringen ska bli klar. Det bli den på MYCKET kortare tid än om man använder diskdefragmenteraren i Windows. Även om man valt att defragmentera alla filer.

Kommentar: Trots att alla program på den här sidan egentligen ska vara gratis tar jag ändå med ESET Smart Security, som 22/6 2009 kostade 1.016 kr för en licens på 2 år vid köp från jsk.nu. Jag har använt säkerhetsprogram från ESET i flera år och är hittills mycket nöjd. När man väl installerat dem märker man dem inte på annat sätt än att man inte drabbas av virus etc.

This can come in handy: I use TXTcollector myself to grab a CD full of readme's to enable me to read them all in one go. Kommentar: Otroligt snabbt program som jag skulle velat hitta för många år sedan. Jag behövde nyligen kombinera 253 .txt-filer om totalt 12 MB till en stor fil. Med TXTcollector tog detta ungefär 3 sekunder. [21/6 2009]

- The source or destination file may be in use
- The file is in use by another program or user
- Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use
Unlocker is the solution!
- Simply right click the folder or file and select Unlocker
- If the folder or file is locked, a window listing of lockers will appear

Kommentar: Klart bättre än andra liknande program jag provat. Med Unlocker kan man nämligen inte bara döda en eller flera processer som låser en fil eller mapp (d.v.s. stänga ner ett eller flera program) utan också låsa upp filen eller mappen utan att stänga ner något program. Med andra liknande program jag provat kan man göra det förra men inte det senare. [21/6 2009]
